Why We Choose Fur

No matter where they’re worn, many of our products are designed and built to protect against the elements in the coldest places on Earth – places where exposed skin can freeze in an instant. In these environments, we believe that fur is the best choice – having fur trim around a jacket hood disrupts airflow which helps protect the face from frostbite.

Why We Choose Down

We use down because it’s recognized as one of the world’s best natural insulators. Each ounce of down has approximately two million fluffy filaments that interlock and overlap to create insulating pockets of air, which is what keeps you warm.

All of the down we use is hypoallergenic, laboratory-tested and is in compliance with applicable standards. Our down blends all contain Canadian Hutterite down, which is among the highest quality Canadian down available, enabling us to manufacture lighter jackets without sacrificing warmth.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Build Quality you expect for Canada Goose I ride a motorbike, spent time outside with street photography and sometimes part of my job. I needed something technical, comfortable and a brand I can trust. previously had a Chilliwack Bomber kept me protected for years - my only criticism for the Macculloch Parcka is there is a bit of a size difference in the fur seen in the photo - or maybe that's just photo'd at it's best possible view I dont know, the chilliwack had a bigger fur piece, maybe because it's not removable... i dont know... great jacket! - get a size lower than you normally do (UK peeps)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best down jacket I've ever owned Best down jacket ever, I was shooting a commercial in this coat outside -30c / -31f, this coat kept me warm the whole day. I'm 5'8, 209lbs, bought a size large. Great fit and warmth all around. Love the pockets, i can fit my lens and waterbottle. The coat is heavy, so glad it has a heavy duty strap in the back. I wish the coat doesn't use buttons, fiddling with button at -30c is cumbersome. I've always had north face jackets, the nuptse and other models that are at least $500 and they do just fine at -20c, but when it's -30c / -31f outside, it's where this Canada Goose Macculloch Parka Shines, simply no competition. This is a TE4 rating jacket, well worth the money. Others who hasn't worn this at - 30c have no idea how warm this jacket is.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Truly great quality! I love this coat. I purchased it with the purpose of when I go out to walk the dog in bad weather I wouldn’t have to waste time layering up. Straight out of the box you can tell this is a quality item. It’s heavy and feels quality with a durable zip. The fleece lined pockets are a little treat and the all round layout of other pockets and features are well thought out, even the d-ring for storing the dog lead and draping over my shoulder is really handy. The hood itself is amazing, it stands really tall when it’s down and with the wire inside it can be bent round your head so the fur keeps your ears warm and the wind out. The huge front pockets are ideal for pretty much everything you want to store on the go and the metal buttons are a nice touch. The warmth this coat provides is glorious, really snug and toasty even with just a t-shirt underneath in sub zero temperatures. The coat gets a lot of attention from people and with the taper at the waist looks great too. Not just the best coat I have ever bought but possibly the best item I have even owned. I don’t make that comment lightly as I’m an ex marine and current police officer and well used to testing and using outdoor kit to it’s full purpose. If the weather is bad I actually get excited about wearing this coat and going out!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comprehensive Review So to begin this review, I have owned and worn this jacket for a couple months. I absolutely love it. I was skeptical that a jacket could warrant such an incredible price but after wearing it and using it for the duration of the winter I can see why it's as expensive as it is. As a background, I am a college student in Wisconsin. I am of college age, 6’0’’, 160 lb, athletic build (size 30-32 pants and average muscle). I wear a SMALL. Normally medium is my size for everything but I would suggest that you favor a a smaller size if you are close to a limit of the size guide intervals.. I purchased a medium and it was too large and had to exchange for a small. I have lived in Wisconsin for most of my life and have seen a good deal of winter. I like to spend a lot of time outside… and have experienced true cold. I have owned winter jackets from a lot of big brands (northface, patagonia, arcteryx… etc). The primary difference between this jacket and those jackets is that this jacket provides exceptional DRY warmth and is the first jacket I don’t have to layer. I want to emphasize "dry" because the inside lining is unique, it is made a material that breaths like almost as well as a t-shirt. With many of my other jackets, wearing only a t-shirt underneath is uncomfortable because as soon as your arms begin to perspire, the lining in the arms sticks to your skin and you feel sweaty (I don’t have this problem as often with this jacket). This jacket feels as warm when I'm indoors as when I'm outdoors, and I don’t find myself needing to strip it off as soon as I go inside. It breaks the wind really well. The parka design helps keep wind from going up your back. The elastic cuffs help keep snow and wind out of the arms. The hood is lined with down and is very warm when it's up. The pockets are awesome, you can keep your gloves and hat and still have room to spare (in my opinion the jacket looks more balanced when the 2 main pockets on the front are filled). The fleece lined hidden pockets are fantastic to hide your hands from the cold when you aren't wearing gloves. I think the main reason this jacket is so much better than many of the other jackets is because this jacket isn't trying to be a technical/climbing/backpacking jacket. Its heavy, its big, its thick, but it's really warm. It feels like wrapping yourself in a really good looking down comforter. And although it is bigger than most jackets, it is styled in a way that is really attractive (I'd say that it would be attractive even without the Canada goose brand name). Compared to the citadel or other men's parkas from CG, I've found that the furs on this jacket are generally much bigger, balanced, and better quality than the ones they put on the other similar jackets. Notes on utility: -If you are a student or working professional reading this review: note that if your classroom or work space doesn’t have a coat hanger, it’s a challenge to set on the back of a chair without things touching the ground (and getting in the melted snow/dirt/salt that winter provides) or getting pinched in a chair mechanism due to the size of this coat. -If you are looking for a jacket to roll around in the snow, hike, or do other "rough" activities in.. I would not recommend this jacket as your best option. The price should be a good indicator that this isn't meant to be a jacket to be rough and tumble in (although I'm sure it could withstand rough use for some time). I'd suggest getting a jacket for 10% of the price of this one and use that as a throw away jacket in case you accidentally rip it. -This jacket is happiest when it's cold.. i.e. any temp below 30 F to -20 F (possibly lower, that’s the coldest it's been where I live and I was wearing this and a t-shirt but was still warm). It's not afraid of wind and it likes to be used to walk or stand outside (shovel, walk, plow, commute). If you live in a region where "really cold" is 30-40 F, you don’t need this jacket. Pros: -Dry warmth -Solid construction -Appealing design considering size -Guaranteed Cons: The only "con" I could really think of is the hood. The problem with the hood is that when its snowing at a decent rate and you don’t have your hood up, the hood will get wet inside. The inside of the hood is the same material that is in the sleeves and doesn’t repel the water like the outside material does, but there isn't really a way to fix that. The hood is warmer than a hat when its dry so its not a big deal to just put it up when its snowing, but it's worth noting. If you are still considering it, I'd recommend you try it. A lot of other sites will give some sort of a deal on it and you can always return it if you find you are not satisfied with this jacket. Give it a try, if your exploration of winter jackets lead you to this review, I'm sure you're the kind of person who would appreciate a winter jacket of this caliber. Hope this helps!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Scottish hills tested I bought this a year ago from the London store and waited to write my review so I could be as honest as possible. I live in Scotland and spend a lot of time outdoors and in the hills as well as abroad Doing private security. From November to March, this jacket gets almost daily wear in both the city and the countryside. It’s tough and durable. At -20c while on a trip to Russia i was kept warm with just a t-shirt underneath. For cold, snow and light rain, this jacket is perfect! It is not waterproof but I knew this before buying and feel that it doesn’t compromise it in anyway. I have a gore-tex jacket and CG wool jumper that I use on cold rainy days. By far the best clothing investment I’ve made and highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Winter Coat For reference, I’m 5ft 8 and purchased this parka in a size ‘XS’. It fits well (and looks fantastic!) when the waist is cinched in with the internal drawstring. I could still easily fit a thick jumper underneath if the temperature required an extra layer. However, this jacket is incredibly warm when just wearing a T Shirt which is fantastic too. The ventilation zips at the bottom of the jacket are a nice feature and definitely help cool you down when things get slightly too hot. The fleece lined hand warmer pockets on the front of the coat are noteworthy due to how incredibly soft and warm they are! Plenty of storage is provided with the generous amount of pockets both inside and outside the jacket, meaning you’ll never run out of space to store things. In summary, this is a great fitting parka that exudes style whilst still being an incredibly functional and utilitarian item of clothing. Worth the price!
