Why We Choose Fur

No matter where they’re worn, many of our products are designed and built to protect against the elements in the coldest places on Earth – places where exposed skin can freeze in an instant. In these environments, we believe that fur is the best choice – having fur trim around a jacket hood disrupts airflow which helps protect the face from frostbite.

Why We Choose Down

We use down because it’s recognized as one of the world’s best natural insulators. Each ounce of down has approximately two million fluffy filaments that interlock and overlap to create insulating pockets of air, which is what keeps you warm.

All of the down we use is hypoallergenic, laboratory-tested and is in compliance with applicable standards. Our down blends all contain Canadian Hutterite down, which is among the highest quality Canadian down available, enabling us to manufacture lighter jackets without sacrificing warmth.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Parka, even in Ireland I bought this a couple of years ago in Alberta at Christmas. It was great for visiting Banff and looking around the old town. Then went to New York for New Years and it felt colder. Many envious comments and looks, especially on the ferries and from police. I use it here in Ireland during the winter when inspecting lighthouses and beacons at night during the winter. I do a lot of driving and it saves having to layer up having driven with the heating on in a tee. Just ordered another CG Parka (Kensington) for my better half to use during our honeymoon. I'd recommend this but be aware; it is warm!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Portable Sauna Boiled down: If you're going to be in below -20 and not moving much, this is the jacket for you. Expanded: I bought this in Yellowknife in 2007 for $400, which is before the "fad" of Canada Goose hit, I suppose. Colleagues and I joked that it was like a "flock of geese" in coat form. Make no mistake, this is the USS Missouri of parkas, and mine has served me well: I've used it in the tundra in the northern NWT in temperatures that often went to -40C and below, and windshield temperatures of -50C; I've also used it in the northern Yukon in the dead of winter when our helicopter pilot wore heated socks and diesel was "gel-ing" in barrels due to cold. This parka kept me warm. Granted, I wore layers. But this coat sets the global bar for winter gear. The coat still gives warmth after having diesel spilt on a portion of it, and apparently provided so much warmth that one winter a mouse family decided to make a nest in it while it was put away. I actually am wishing I had it with me (it's in Whitehorse, I'm in Saskatoon), instead of this pseudo parka I have from North Face. It's a little worn now, with the fur missing due to rodents one winter, but duct tape or tuct tape usually does the trick.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Money Can Buy...Northern Canada Usage purchased this parka in about 1996 or so (23 years ago). It has been to Fort McMurray Alberta Canada in the winter for many seasons and has always kept me warm, even at -60C. Everyone else is cold...not me! :) It will cost you some money, but there is no substitute for the quality and durability of this coat. just buy it...period. I appreciate this parka so much, I purchased a second one and gave it to my older brother. He used his in the Canadian Oilfield Industry in Alberta and Saskatchewan for years, working in -50C as well. Best bang for your buck right here. Thank-you Canada Goose.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Absolute: Resolute Marked by firm determination is the text book definition of resolute, which is such a befitting name, for this supreme winter parka. After some research I learned that this particular jacket actually built the Canada Goose brand reputation for durability. The resolute style was their first jacket to sell long ago and has not changed much today. Even though this jacket color is white it has not been a trouble to keep clean over the years. Definitely a top notch winter coat that is serious about any arctic weather conditions. From Aspen, Colorado, the northern tips of Minnesota, holy frozen tundras in Siberia, and to the majestic treetop forests of Ontario, Canada at negative temperatures this jacket was there for me through it all. Serious arctic gear for those cold elements. The CG accessories are just excellent accompaniments to this incredible winter jacket. Often these days I wear my Resolute parka around Ann Arbor, Michigan to stay comfortable. Maybe it is fine time to retrofit a CG baby onesie for my pet dog this winter, just kidding. Much appreciation Canada Goose team. Best Wishes! Garret P.S. I hope to one day find an XL Westmount parka that is now discontinued. (new or used)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saved my Life in the Arctic I bought it in 2004 for necesity when I was posted at some arctic regions of Canada and it saved my life there, now I use it when it goes -15 or below where I live and is about two months of the year. Repaired some wearing under the lifetime warranty that it works phenomenal with amazing cusotmer service, as it should be.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for Alaska Has been durable and spectacularly warm. Hood is second to nothing in high winds. In -20F I wear medium weight base layer, lined flannel shirt, light goose down sweater, the Resolute, and I can be out all day, often dropping the goose down sweater if I’m active. At zero degrees F I can just put the resolute on over my lined flannel shirt without needing a warming base layer or down sweater, Resolute is plenty. Very generously cut. I’m 6’1” and 200 lbs. and normally take an XL, but a large Resolute is what I need.
