Why We Choose Fur

No matter where they’re worn, many of our products are designed and built to protect against the elements in the coldest places on Earth – places where exposed skin can freeze in an instant. In these environments, we believe that fur is the best choice – having fur trim around a jacket hood disrupts airflow which helps protect the face from frostbite.

Why We Choose Down

We use down because it’s recognized as one of the world’s best natural insulators. Each ounce of down has approximately two million fluffy filaments that interlock and overlap to create insulating pockets of air, which is what keeps you warm.

All of the down we use is hypoallergenic, laboratory-tested and is in compliance with applicable standards. Our down blends all contain Canadian Hutterite down, which is among the highest quality Canadian down available, enabling us to manufacture lighter jackets without sacrificing warmth.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A Real Let Down Purchase I bought this coat in December , in anticipation of Christmas in Switzerland. As layering under coats drives me mad, I thought this coat would be more than adequate worn with a thermal vest and shirt. Not so. Unfortunately the coat did not do what I had hoped .. I was cold! The temperature outside was -2 degrees at worst, and 5 degrees at best. While I do feel the cold, I had high hopes the supposed pinnacle of warmth , a Canada Goose coat, would keep me toasty. To make matters worse, I can hardly fit necessary layers under it !! You live and learn, but the purchase was an expensive learning curve. On the up side, it is a beautifully made coat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my Shelburne! Had been eyeing the Shelburne for a couple of years and am so glad I finally got one! THE best parka I've ever had, and I've had many over the years - especially living in Ontario, Canada and having to walk two Labrador Retrievers every day in all sorts of weather, including -40 windchill days. My old MEC parka did the trick.. but the problem was, although it would keep me warm, I felt like I was suffocating in it! With the Shelburne, it keeps the wind and cold out and the warm in.. but it still breathes so you don't feel all stuffy and uncomfortable on those long winter dog hikes.. Now I know what all the Canada Goose fuss was all about!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Get the red! Be bold and do it!! I wasn’t sure which style or color I should gift myself for Christmas... I didn’t want to be basic and get the black since everyone I see owns it. So I wanted something bold and different. WOW! Am I glad I got the red. It is so beautiful in contrast with the snow outside. Totally worth the investment. Please note: I normally wear a size 10 in most clothing designers and I ordered an XL so I could wear sweaters underneath. Fits great in the arms and a little extra room in the waist. It’s perfect! I recommend sizing up. Tips: size up & a be bold! Get a fun color, you won’t regret it! :) Thanks Canada Goose for an amazing parka!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I'm cold in 32F with thermals and a sweater under I bought this in November 2015, just before the cold really started to kick in in NYC winter, thinking I was buying a jacket that would keep me super warm, but instead I feel the cold every day in my coat. Even at 32 degrees fahrenheit, and even with thermals and a sweater on. Nothing like the experience of others wearing just a t-shirt. I also feel the NYC wind rush through every time there is a gust. This is so different from the experiences of my friends with other Canada Goose Jackets, or when I borrow their jackets. Maybe the seams on mine aren't right but because I purchased in November to avoid missing out, I cannot return it. Wish I had gone for a different style that I knew was reliable

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So happy with the purchase I read all the reviews before I bought this jacker. What I was condidering was Trillium. I ordered a Trillium Fusion fit but I returned. It was shorter and smaller. One day I saw a girl who was wearing the Shelburn. The jacket was really catching my eyes. I asked her the style and size and colour and I ordered. And I am so happy to wear it. I am 5"2 feet and 110 lbs. I ordered size S and fits me really well. The only problem is the sleeves are long for me, so I did the alternation to the sleeves. Now it is so perfect for me. I did not order the fusion fit of Shelburn because I like the length of the regular fit.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Stylish but not warm I bought this parka in October 2015, as I wanted something that would keep me really warn in the cold, snowy winters so common in Boston, MA. The jacket looks great and fits really well, but unfortunately it does feel as warm as I expected from a TEI 3. It has not been really cold in Boston this year yet (the coldest has so far been around 18F (-8C) and this jacket just does not keep me warm, even though it is supposed to work between -20C and -10C. I would recommend this item for temperatures > 45F <55F: below 45 F it is just not warm enough. TEI 1 would be the appropriate rating for this jacket.
