Why We Choose Fur

No matter where they’re worn, many of our products are designed and built to protect against the elements in the coldest places on Earth – places where exposed skin can freeze in an instant. In these environments, we believe that fur is the best choice – having fur trim around a jacket hood disrupts airflow which helps protect the face from frostbite.

Why We Choose Down

We use down because it’s recognized as one of the world’s best natural insulators. Each ounce of down has approximately two million fluffy filaments that interlock and overlap to create insulating pockets of air, which is what keeps you warm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Zenith of the Canada Goose Black Label line Just purchased the Sherridon Parka in the Silverburch color. This is my 2nd Canada Goose coat, and by far the best for the money. It's also one of the latest models. The Sherridon Parka has nice pockets inside and outside. It's super warm too! The mobility in the in arms and shoulder area are phenomenal. I have very muscular arms. So finding anything, especially a coat, to fit my arms right is troublesome at times, but not with this coat. The attention to detail and design is second-to-none. Like I said, this is one of the latest models from the Canada Goose line-up, at least that's what the salesman said, and I hope CG keeps up with this quality of excellence. Best upgrade ever!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from On the verge of perfection I have no regret purchasing this jacket. It's a beautiful piece of art created by artisans. It kept me very warm that I only wore a shirt and still it got me sweating :) The black label patch makes this jacket more distinguishable from other Canada Goose jackets. For size wise, I am 5.11 weighting about 180ibs man, and the Medium size fits me very well. I did not have any problem with the size of the hood, but the long arm and the length of the jacket might be a problem for people who like a just fit outfit. Again it is a beautiful jacket that would last life long due to the great quality and effort put into this jacket. The high price gave me doubts before buying it but after I bought it, I understood why it costs this much.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great upgrade! I previously owned the Langford black label Parka which was horrible. Feathers kept leaking non stop after a year, the color was fading and on top of that the Parka was not warm at all, especially compared to my Woolrich Parka. I recently upgraded to the Sherridon black label Parka (thanks to the very polite and helpful customer service in Europe) and wow what a huge difference! The Sherridon feels very warm and comfortable.I like that there are 2 different ways to attach the removable hood. I also like that the collar is filled with down, as I don't need to wear a scarf anymore. I compared it with the Langford Parka and the Sherridon has more or better divided down, as the shoulders, chest and arms all feel warmer. Another thing I like are the built in hand warmers. Sometimes you underestimate the cold or forget to bring your gloves, but the hand warmers are ideal in those situations. Overall I'm very happy with the Sherridon Parka and I have to admit it's even warmer than my Woolrich Arctic Parka DF.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great material and design but poor quality control Pros: Very solid material, way better lining than langford to prevent feather leak. Longer sleeves and body length, better cover of the body for optimal warmth. Cons: Cumbersome compared to langford due to better material. Terribly made with loose threads all over the parka. Stitching is so careless, does not even bother spending 30 seconds to cut out the excessive string. I exchanged for another one with the same problem. If it is not from this official website, I would seriously question it's authenticity. Summary: It's solid material should make it the warmest TEI 4 parka, I suppose. A great alternative for those who don't appreciate the relaxed fit design of Expedition but need better warmth. Be aware that Made in Canada actually means poor quality control.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A generally great CG jacket with a tall, long fit. The Sherridon Jacket is a commendable jacket. However, given its price, odd sizing due to lack of an appropriate sizing description, I expected a bit better. I personally RMA'ed a Langford Parka Black Label, so I will be making comparisons in some instances. I will also describe the Sherridon for those who haven't experienced wearing a Langford. POSITIVES: I will preface by saying the jacket's craftsmanship and material quality is as spot on as their other offerings. Fabric is sturdy and is approximately the same as the Langford's, if not better. Of course, as advertised, the elbows are reinforced and are very sturdy. It is a heavier jacket; maybe twice the weight of the Langford. This is not an issue given its build quality and purpose, but it's just something to keep in mind if you were looking for a light yet warm jacket known to be characteristically possible with down. In which case, see styles like Langford or Chateau. Other positives are the jackets body warmth. At TEI 4, you will get a bit toasty wearing this indoors zipped up, but outside, as with other CG jackets, some days you'll go outside without checking the weather and wonder what all the fuss is about. Surely, it's only -15C... Nope, it's -30C. You're doing fine, while others can't stop complaining about frostbite. The added down neck pillow of sorts is a nice addition. It surely helps to keep your neck; thus, also your body, warm. It's soft and comfortable against your neck and no feathers or down have seeped through after months of usage. As it is protected by the jacket, no need to worry about durability there. As to be expected from Canada Goose, this jacket has many exterior pockets and some interior ones as well for whatever your needs may be. The snap buttons combined with the Langford's sleek front flap design is a great choice functionally and aesthetically which takes from the best of Langford and Emory styles. This style foregoes the cons of the Langford, where my velcro straps started to tear out, and to styles like Emory, where the front isn't as sleek and button caps are showing at the front. This is a slick, good looking jacket. Personally, it is perhaps the best-looking jacket Canada Goose offers. The pictures do not mislead here. Unlike previous models, the interior of the Sherridon features CG's new stitching design. It is flusher and uniform with no weak seams for feathers to creep out of onto your clothes, which was a major complaint I had with the older style Langford. I have been wearing this jacket for months now and have not seen a single feather come out from the jacket. NEGATIVES: A complaint I have is with the hood’s construction. Compared to the Langford style, it has a cut at the front (see picture 4 on the product page, showing the hood from the side). As a Canadian in the prairies, I have gone through a few -20C to -40C days with this jacket now and the hood surprisingly falls short compared to the Langford here. The slit allows wind to come through the sides of the hood to your neck and face; thus, meaning a less wind-protective hood (see picture). A plus however with the Sherridon is that it has a wire frame on the brim of the hood, so the fur can be shaped as you please. Otherwise the hood and fur work as in other Canada Goose jackets, which is to say superbly. But the slits are a huge setback for this hood. Also, the quality of the fur ruff for this jacket is low (at least with its construction). The fur is easy to pull off from the ruff. The fur also clings to the fleece near the brim of the hood (see picture). My biggest complaint however is with the sizing. Or more aptly, the lack of length size descriptors in the description of the jacket or in the size guide on the Canada Goose website (the size guide only displays chest, waist and hip; no arm length of jacket length). If you are under 6 feet tall, do not buy this jacket unless you like a long overall fit, have longer arms, or conversely, like hiding your hands. I am 5'10" wearing a medium and the cuffs of the jacket go halfway down my fingers (see picture). I must bunch the arms up in order to use my hands while wearing the jacket, otherwise the cuffs will touch my fingers and are thick enough so that they feel rough when my fingers are cold (see picture). A small size would not rectify this issue while also being less mobile, and XS would be far too small in chest, waist and hip. The body of the jacket also goes down long; I must pull the bottom zipper up, which is necessary for me if sitting down or moving lots, which I didn't have to do for the Langford. It is more like low thigh fit or just above the knees if you are under 6 feet tall. The models for this jacket may all be 6' plus in height, but the same can be said for the Langford. The model height and size are the same between these jackets, and they both appear to fit the same. As a previous owner of a Langford and now owner of the Sherridon, I can confirm this is not the case at all. I would say the Sherridon is approximately 4-5" longer than the Langford of equal size, at least with arm length. I had no problems with the fit of the Langford whatsoever. Consequentially, the hand warming pockets at the bottom are a bit too far down to use effortlessly. Both fleece-lined pockets are a disappointment in their implementation to the point where I take advantage of the jacket's length and pull the cuffs down and hide my hands. The upper hand-warmers have an overlap design to the fabric, so you must sort of "worm" your hands in. After which the overlap pattern mildly digs into your wrists; not exactly comforting, which is something my hands are looking for when they are cold and sensitive (see picture). An overlap implementation like in the Langford handwarmers, or like in the lower handwarmers, minus the zippers, would've been perfect. The bottom warmers have zippers, which I understand could be useful for some, but for me, it just works against the idea of the using them as hand-warmers. Like the upper warmers, the zippers are rough against your wrists. I understand the above points are nullified if you use the cuffs properly with the thumbhole and not in the Langford style. However, for a jacket of this price and its idealized versatility, the above shouldn't be issues no matter how I choose to use the cuffs. Personally, using the thumbholes can feel annoying at times, as they have an overlap style as well. Thus, I forego using them quite often. A small nitpick is of the reflective strap on the hood, which cannot be reversed like on the cuffs, making the jacket look slightly less sharp. This strap is also quite long and hangs if it is tightening the hood (see picture). TO CONCLUDE: Despite the negatives section being longer, the pros outweigh the cons and I would still give this jacket four stars. If you are to RMA a jacket from Canada Goose, make especially sure you are making the right decision when choosing your replacement. My jacket sizing ended up being a bit off, even after trying it on in store (I will admit I was sleep deprived when I tried the jacket, however). I am now stuck with an over-sized, slightly uncomfortable and irritating fit. I would highly recommend trying this jacket on in store before you order it to avoid problems, especially if it's for a replacement jacket. This is still a competent jacket for its price, and if you can get a great fit, it is going to be hard to beat in many aspects.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Sorry, but so poor :-( Such a super parka, but the quality... 1 month ago I ordered a Citadel Parka. Going back, cause there where 1 bad mark on the righthand arm. No quality-control... Now I ordered the Sherridon Parka: The parka for them selve would be great, but the quality control had no eyes!: Allmost all seams where open, threads came out of the seams. At body, back and arms. Like spyderthreads, but every where. Also all hangtags, hologramm, comletly all where missing. If I tdidn´t ordered direct at CG I thought it will be a fake. Sorry, but I don´t revommand the quality control from CG and hope, the next parka will be in the same quality I got the last 10 years. Greets Andy
