From ocean deep to mountain high, meet two women who are influencing how others live in the open.
We’re celebrating exceptional women who find inspiration in the natural world to drive global sustainable initiatives.
Live In The Open: What does that mean exactly? For us, it’s not just a catchy campaign tagline or elusive brand promise: It’s far more philosophically profound. It’s a way of thinking that encourages you, encourages all of us, to take life head on: To live joyfully, bravely, and without reservation. Live in The Open is a mindset that embraces community, and forging deep connections with the natural world – and the people – around us.
To bring this philosophy to life, we called upon two women who are breaking new ground in sustainable efforts around the world. Each is driven to give back to the people and places that inspire her, and we love that. Watch the videos below to learn more and discover their stories here.
Founder, Girls That Scuba & Waste Free World
Founder of Girls that Scuba, the world’s largest online community of scuba dive women in the world, and A Waste Free World, a plastic-free shop that specializes in selling eco-friendly, zero waste products, UK-based Divemaster Sarah Richard has spent the last 10 years advocating for small sustainable businesses and female-run organizations.
With strong ambitions in empowering female participation in the outdoors, Sarah runs female-only dive trips around the world to inspire women who have a love of diving, or are interested in taking up the sport.
For Sarah, it’s all about creating a safe place to share community and make female divers more mainstream from the typically male-dominated industry. Along with this, Sarah also organizes regular beach cleans and commits to taking rubbish from the sea every time she, and her group, is out diving.
The ocean has completely changed my life, allow the outdoors to change yours”
