Preferred Fibres & Materials

Making a more sustainable product begins with innovation. In 2019, we committed to sourcing more Preferred Fibres and Materials (PFMs) as defined by Textile Exchange. We use fibres and materials with improved environmental and social sustainability impacts compared to conventional production.

This includes recycled, organic, natural, biodegradable and plant-based fibres or materials—and currently over 50% of our products are made with PFMs, as specified by the Textile Exchange.

Kind Fleece

In a textile category that has often been petroleum-based, we developed Kind Fleece, our next generation of fleece, an ultra-soft and breathable fabric made with 62% recycled wool, 18% wood-based TENCEL™ Lyocell, 13% partially bio-based Sorona® Polymer and 7% Polyamide.

Recycled Arctic Tech

Designed to stay dry in extreme conditions and cold climates, this heritage-inspired textile contains recycled polyester and organic cotton. Recycled polyester, in particular, is recognized to generate significantly less carbon than its conventional cousin.

Recycled Feather-light Ripstop

This durable, ultra-lightweight fabric with ripstop construction is designed to withstand high winds, light rain and snow and made from 100% recycled nylon.

TerraCare® Leather

Our search for sustainably manufactured leather was informed by the Leather Working Group, the leading global environmental certification organization. With a Gold medal LWG audit rating, TerraCare® is dedicated to using and developing ecological tanning methods, resulting in lower water and chemical consumption.

Responsible Down Standard

Down is one of the best natural sources for lightweight insulation. In November 2021, Canada Goose became certified as a brand under the Responsible Down Standard (RDS). We’re proud to belong to a leading community of global brands who, like us, are committed to responsibly sourced down.

The RDS respects the Five Freedoms of animal welfare, prohibits live-plucking or force-feeding in the supply chain, and stipulates that all RDS down is a by-product of the poultry industry.

Our Greenhouse Gas Footprint

Reaching net zero is a must. Our goal by 2025 is to achieve net zero emissions by reducing our Scope 1 & 2 emissions by 80% from our 2019 baseline. But we can’t wait to make a difference for the climate. Each year, we achieve carbon neutrality for company operations by investing in carbon offset projects that reduce, avoid, or sequester the equivalent of 200% of our annual Scope 1 and 2 emissions. Supporting Our Employees in Action

Our charitable giving program empowers us to donate to pertinent global causes while empowering our employees to do the same. We match employee financial donations to registered charities and double our match when employees give to organizations that Canada Goose corporately supports, including the Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami Foundation and Polar Bears International.

Giving Back

Ongoing support for global relief efforts, including 10,000 parkas, jackets and accessories to Ukraine and $235,000 to UNHCR.
