With specific provisions applicable to residents in Canada, California, EEA/UK/Switzerland, and the People’s Republic of China

Scope and Overview

This Employment Applicant Privacy Policy/Notice (“Policy” or “Notice”) describes how Canada Goose Inc., a corporation incorporated in and having its head-office in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, its affiliates, and subsidiaries as defined by applicable companies and securities statutory laws (collectively referred to as the “Canada Goose”, “Company” or “we” or “us”), collect, use, retain, and share/disclose Personal Information during the employment application and recruitment process.

This Notice applies exclusively to employment / job applicants and covers all employment positions to which an individual applies.

For the purposes of this Notice, "Personal Information" of “Personal Data” refers to any information, or a combination of information, that can reasonably identify or make an individual identifiable and are protected under applicable privacy laws.

We will collect, use, and disclose Personal Information to consider applicants for employment, to process job applications and any associated operations, as described in this Notice/Privacy Policy.

Personal Information that the Company Collects

The Company may collect Personal Information from you (the candidate), our recruitment agencies, background and credit check providers, public agencies responsible for employment eligibility and verification, publicly available sources, and your identified references including former employers. We collect and process the following categories of Personal Information:

Contact Information: Personal identifiers and contact details, including your name, gender, date of birth, ID number, residential address, phone number, email address, and family contact information. We may request identification documents to verify your identity.

Application Materials: Information in your curriculum vitae (“CV”) or resume, cover letter, or other documents obtained during interviews or engagements with the Company, that provide information and evidence about educational qualifications, professional certifications, work experience, and other relevant background information.

Employment Preferences: Type of employment sought, willingness to relocate, other desired employment terms, including preferred country of employment, desired salary, compensation, benefits, areas of interest, and availability date, to facilitate recruitment management and contract preparation.

Background Information: Information from third parties, such as former employers or references, regarding your education, work history, skills, or qualifications, or criminal record check. Background checks are conducted only when necessary for the position and in accordance with applicable law.

Account and Notification Information: If you apply through our website and create a Canada Goose Account, we will process your account details (e.g., username, password, country of residence) and notification preferences for future vacancies.

Sensitive Personal Information (Special Categories of Data): At the final stage of recruitment, we may collect additional sensitive information, including health conditions (e.g., medical history) and family background (e.g., marital status, children). We may also collect information about citizenship/permanent residence/immigration status, criminal records, personal identification numbers such as Personal Number in EU and Peoples Republic of China, Social Security Number in USA, or Social Insurance Number in Canada, geolocation, and other potentially Sensitive Personal Information.

Device, internet and network activity information: If you interact with us online, we may collect information such as browsing history, search history, and information regarding your interactions with our digital offerings.

Audio, electronic, visual, or similar information: We collect information generated during the job interview process, including but not limited to your image, video or voice information captured by web conferencing tools, CCTV, and security cameras.

We will only collect and process Sensitive Personal Information (as described in this Notice) if it is allowed or required by law, and where and when necessary, we will seek your consent if it is required by law.

How the Company Uses Personal Information

The Company uses your Personal Information to support our recruitment process, for our legitimate business interests, or for other purposes permitted or required by law. Specifically, we may use Personal Information for the following purposes:

Applicant Evaluation: Identifying and evaluating job applicants, including assessing qualifications, skills, and interests.

Verification: Verifying your information and conducting employment, background, and reference checks, with your consent where required by law.

Recruitment Communication: Communicating with you about your application and the recruitment process.

Compliance: Complying with legal, regulatory, and corporate requirements, including conducting mandatory background checks (e.g., criminal record, employment eligibility, immigration status).

Process Improvement: Analyzing and improving the recruitment process.

Specialized Accommodations: Accommodating individuals with specialized needs during recruitment.

Legal Protection: Protecting the rights, interests, and property of the Company, other applicants, employees, or the public, as required or permitted by law.

How We Collect Personal Information

The Company is committed to using your Personal Information solely in accordance with this Notice. If we need to use your Personal Information for a purpose unrelated to what is outlined in this Notice, we will, to the extent practicable, provide notice to you and, if required by law, seek your consent. We may use your Personal Information without your consent when permitted by applicable law or regulation.

Methods of Collection

We may collect your Personal Information in the following ways:

1. Directly from You: When you apply for a position, submit documents, or otherwise engage with us during the recruitment process (e.g. online application, email communications, interview).

2. From Third Parties: We may also collect Personal Information about you from third parties, such as headhunting/recruitment agencies or from agencies duly licensed by a federal/national/State or Provincial Government to process criminal record background check. In such cases, we will request that these third parties confirm the source of your Personal Information and ensure that they have obtained your consent to provide it to us and to allow us to process it. We will not process any Personal Information from third parties until we have confirmation that the relevant parties have obtained your consent, as required by law. If the consent obtained by the third party does not cover the purposes for which we intend to process your Personal Information, we will seek additional consent from you before proceeding.

If you provide the contact details of another person (such as family members, former employers, or references), please ensure you have obtained their consent to share their Personal Information with us for use as described in this Policy. These Personal Information will be used to assess your qualifications, work experience, and any financial consequences of your potential employment (e.g. visa requirements, travel arrangements, eventual benefits provided to family members through health insurance), as well as ensuring our compliance with the law.

We take steps designed to ensure that the processing of your Sensitive Personal Information complies with applicable law. We implement reasonable and appropriate security measures designed to protect Sensitive Personal Information and have minimal impact on your rights and freedoms.

What is our lawful basis for processing your data?

In many jurisdictions, we are required to have a lawful basis to process your data. For a number of use cases, we may rely on your consent, for example where we process your Sensitive Personal Information.

However, we may also rely on alternative lawful basis where applicable. For example, for processing Personal Information including Sensitive Personal Information, we may also rely on the fact the processing is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, to pursue a legitimate business interest, public interest, or it is necessary for the entering into and/or performance of a contract. If we process your criminal record data, we may rely on the fact that such processing is necessary to detect and/or prevent unlawful or criminal acts, or to pursue a legitimate business interest. Further, if we process information about your gender or ethnicity for diversity purposes, we may rely on the fact that such processing is necessary to pursue a legitimate business interest and to ensure equality of opportunity. Likewise, if we process data about a disability, we will likely rely on the fact that such processing is necessary to provide a safe working environment. For further information about the lawful basis that we rely on in certain jurisdictions, please see the relevant jurisdiction specific section of this Notice.

Data Sharing

The Company is committed to protecting your Personal Information and will only share it under specific circumstances, as outlined below:

1. Internal Sharing: The Company may disclose your Personal Information to appropriate individuals within the Company, including affiliates, who are involved in the employment application and recruitment process.

2. Third-Party Service Providers: We may share your Personal Information with our designated agents or third-party service providers who assist with routine business needs, such as conducting employment verification and background checks.

3. Legal and Regulatory Requirements: The Company will disclose your Personal Information to third parties if required by law or regulatory requirements to which we or you are subject.

4. Business Interests: We may share your Personal Information where it is necessary to manage our working relationship with you or to protect our legitimate business interests, such as for business operations or legal defense.

5. Corporate Transactions: In the event of a merger, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution, or other sale or transfer of some or all of the Company’s assets, your Personal Information may be shared as part of the assets transferred.

International Data Sharing

Canada Goose operates globally with its group companies located in multiple jurisdictions, including Canada, USA, UK, European Union, Switzerland, People’s Republic of China, or other jurisdictions. As a result, your Personal Information may be transferred outside your jurisdiction of residence.

1. Sharing Within the Company: Each local subsidiary or affiliate of Canada Goose Inc., either as controller, joint controller or processor of your Personal Information, may share your data (including Sensitive Personal Information) with each other for the purposes outlined in this Notice, where necessary to manage our recruitment process.

2. Third-Party Service Providers: Your Personal Information (including Sensitive Personal Information) may be shared with service providers, such as headhunting agencies, or professional advisers.

3. Global Networks and Server Systems: We may store and process your Personal Information in global server systems and networks through cross-border transfer. These systems/networks may be located outside of your national jurisdiction of residence, and you can contact us or the hosts of these global systems/networks to exercise your rights regarding the protection of your Personal Information, as provided by applicable privacy laws.

We will take reasonable steps designed to ensure that your Personal Information is protected according to the industry standards of protection, using appropriate contractual arrangements or Personal Information protection certifications. If required by applicable privacy laws, we will also conduct a security impact assessment prior to any cross-border transfer.

Please note that for certain jurisdictions, additional safeguards will be required to transfer your personal data overseas. Data Location and Retention

The Company has locations across the globe, including the United States. The information (including Personal Information) that the Company collects and processes may be stored in the United States, Canada or other jurisdictions where the Company or our service providers operate. These jurisdictions may not provide the same level of protections as the applicable privacy laws in your country of residence. The Company does not participate in the US Data Privacy Frameworks; however, it has implemented commercially reasonable technical, administrative, and physical security measures designed to safeguard Personal Information from unauthorized use, disclosure, or access, including use of Standard Contractual Clauses in data processing agreements, as required by the European Commission or Cyberspace Administration of China. We may also transfer Personal Information to countries that have been deemed to provide an adequate level of protection by the European Commission and/or UK government.

The Company retains candidates and employee records primarily in accordance with local applicable privacy laws, and as long as necessary to defend our legal and business interests.

In the context of recruitment, the Company will collect and retain your Personal Information for the minimum period necessary for processing your application. Typically, we retain your Personal Information related to a particular vacancy for up to one (1) year from the end of the application process, unless you give us permission to retain your Personal Information for a longer period to be considered for other vacancies, or if applicable privacy laws require a different maximum retention period.

Sensitive Personal Information, such as your health and family background, will be deleted as soon as you are no longer being considered for a position with us.

If your application is successful, relevant Personal Information will be retained and used for the purpose of administering your subsequent employment, in accordance with our Employee Privacy Policy (a copy of which will be provided to you or made available online to you when you take up your employment).

Changes to this Notice

Canada Goose reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to change, modify, add or remove portions of this Notice at any time and from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes to this Notice as required by law. We will also post an updated copy on our website. Please check our site periodically for updates. Your continued use of our website means that you consent to the collection, use and disclosure of Personal Information as set out in the updated Notice.

Jurisdiction-Specific Privacy Rights of Applicants

If your Personal Information is protected by any of the following applicable privacy laws, you are entitled to be informed of the following:

Canada

You may have certain rights in relation to your information including a right to access and rectification, to control the dissemination of personal information, or the right to data portability. Some of these rights will only apply in certain circumstances however, such as the right to request that we move your information to a person or body authorized by law to collect your information. This will generally not be available if there are outstanding contracts between us, if we are required by law to keep the information, or if the information is relevant to a legal dispute.

Right to withdraw consent: You can remove consent, where you have provided it, at any time, as well as update any of your opt-in marketing preferences, buy following the instructions in the marketing communication, or by contacting us at the above email address.

Right of access: You are entitled to obtain from us details concerning the processing of your personal information and to receive a copy of the personal information we process about you (including in electronic form). Additional copies may be subject to a reasonable administrative fee.

Right to rectification: You are entitled to have any incomplete and inaccurate personal information held by us rectified. If you have an account with our online store, you can log in and update your account information, including contact, billing and shipping information.

Right to data portability: In certain circumstances you can ask us to help you move your information to other persons or body authorized by law to collect your information.

Right to complain and appeal: In the event that your request is refused, we shall provide you with reasons for the refusal and indicate the provision of law on which the refusal is based, the remedies available to you, and the time limit for exercising those remedies. At your request, we will also assist you to understand our refusal. If you are Quebec resident and if you disagree with our refusal, you have the right to submit an application for the examination of the refusal to the Commission d’accès à l’information (the “Commission”) within thirty (30) days of our refusal to grant your request.

In response to verified requests pursuant to the rights above, we will disclose and deliver the required information to you no later than 30 days of receiving a verifiable consumer request. In Quebec, we may extend this time period by an additional 30-days by submitting, within the initial 30-day period, a request to the Commission.

European Economic Area (“EEA”), UK and Switzerland

Our lawful basis

The Company processes Personal Information in compliance with the legal bases outlined in the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (EU 2016/679) (“GDPR”) and the UK Data Protection Act 2018 (“UK GDPR”), and Switzerland’s Federal Act on Data Protection (“FADP”), collectively referred to here as “GDPR”.

In particular, the Company will rely on the fact that the processing is necessary to pursue its legitimate business interest to recruit as well as the fact that the processing for certain activities will be necessary to comply with a legal obligation or for the entering into of an employment contract.

Where the Company processes Sensitive Personal Information in connection with your recruitment, it may in addition rely on (i) a substantial public interest special processing condition such as ensuring equality of opportunity and/or necessary to detect or prevent unlawful or criminal acts (ii) complying with a legal obligation in an employment context, and (iii) your explicit consent.

Your rights

If you are based in UK, EEA, or Switzerland, you have nine fundamental data subject rights which guarantee individual autonomy over both personal data and its processing. These are:

Right to access: Data subjects have the right to view and request copies of their personal data.

Right to be forgotten/Right to erasure: Data subjects have the right to request their personal data be deleted. Note that this is not an absolute right and may be subject to exemptions based on certain applicable laws.

Right to be informed: Data subjects have the right to be informed about the collection and use of their personal data.

Right to data portability: Subject to certain exceptions, data subjects have the right to ask for their data to be transferred to another controller or provided to them. The data must be provided in a machine-readable electronic format.

Right to object to automated processing: Data subjects have the right to object to decisions being made with their data solely based on automated decision making or profiling. Canada Goose does not currently use automated decision-making or profiling for screening candidates.

  • Right to object: Data subjects have the right to object to the processing of their personal data where a Company (i) relies on a legitimate interest or public interest to process Personal Information when such processing is overriding the individual’s interests, rights and freedoms, and is unable to demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing; or (ii) is processing such personal data for direct marketing purposes.

Right to rectification: Data subjects have the right to request inaccurate or outdated Personal Data be updated or corrected. [If we have shared your Personal Data with others, we’ll let them know about the rectification where possible. If you ask us, where possible and lawful to do so, we will also tell you who we’ve shared your Personal Data with, so that you can contact them.]

Right to restrict processing: Data subjects have the right to request the restriction or suppression of their Personal Data. [If we have shared your personal data with others, we’ll let them know about the restriction where possible. If you ask us, where possible and lawful to do so, we will also tell you who we’ve shared your Personal Data with so that you can contact them.]

Right to withdraw consent: Data subjects have the right to withdraw previously given consent to process their Personal Data.

The retention period of candidates’ files is jurisdiction specific. In general, we preserve unsuccessful candidates records with Personal Information for three (3) months. If you are a resident of Switzerland, we are required to delete certain records that contain Personal Information immediately after rejection of or unsuccessful application for employment.

You have the right to lodge a complaint in relation to our processing of your Personal Data to the following organisations:

If you wish to exercise your rights and there is a reasonable doubt about your identity (for example, if we receive the request from an email address we do not recognize), we may first require you to provide information from which we can satisfy ourselves as to your identity.

International transfers

We may transfer personal data to third parties (as described in the Data Sharing section above) that are located in countries that do not have privacy laws that protect personal data to the same standard as the GDPR and FADP. These third countries may not give you the same rights as under the GDPR and/or FADP in relation to your personal data and may not have a data protection supervisory authority to help you if you have any concerns.

When transferring personal data to third countries, we usually rely on one of the following:

  • Adequacy decisions: We may transfer your personal data to countries or organisations that have been deemed to provide an adequate level of protection for personal data by the European Commission, the UK Government, Swiss Government or any other relevant government body. This may include transfers to organisations that participate in the Data Privacy Framework as set out here.
  • Contractual safeguards: We may use specific contracts approved by the European Commission, the UK Government, Swiss Government or any other relevant governmental body to safeguard personal data. The contracts that we usually rely on are referred to as “Standard Contractual Clauses” or “SCCs”, although we may from time to time use other approved mechanisms. Consequences of failure to provide information

Finally, if you fail to provide information when requested, which is necessary for us to consider your application (such as evidence of qualifications or work history), we will not be able to process your application successfully. For example, if we require references for this role and you fail to provide us with relevant details, we will not be able to take your application further.

California Notice at Collection and Additional Disclosures

For purposes of this subsection, the terms “consumer,” “categories of personal information,” “personal information,” “sensitive personal information”, “business purpose,” “third party,” “sell,” “share,” and “cross-context behavioral targeted advertising,” have the meanings ascribed to them in the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”). Terms defined under the CCPA may differ in meaning from the common usage of the same terms used elsewhere in this Notice.

If you are a California resident, we may collect, and have collected in the last 12 months, the categories of Personal Information listed in the Personal Information that the Company Collects section above. We collect and use this Personal Information for the purposes listed in the How the Company Uses Personal Information section above. We will retain this Personal Information in accordance with the Data Location and Retention section above.

Under the CCPA, California residents interacting with us as a job applicant, have the following rights:

Right to Access: Up to two times every 12 months, you have the right to request that Canada Goose disclose to you the following: (i) the categories of Personal Information that Canada Goose has collected about you; (ii) the categories of sources from which Canada Goose has collected Personal Information about you; (iii) the business or commercial purpose for collecting, selling, or sharing Personal Information; (iv) the categories of Personal Information that Canada Goose has sold and the categories of Third Parties to whom the Personal Information was sold, by category or categories of Personal Information for each Third Party to whom the Personal Information was sold; (v) the categories of Personal Information that Canada Goose has disclosed about you for our business purposes and the categories of Third Parties to whom the Personal Information was disclosed, by category or categories of Personal Information for each Third Party to whom the Personal Information was disclosed; and (vi) the specific pieces of Personal Information that Canada Goose has collected about you.

Right to data portability: You have the right to request a portable copy of Personal Information we maintain about you.

Right to delete: You have the right to request that Canada Goose delete Personal Information collected from and about you, subject to certain exceptions allowed under applicable law.

Right to correct: You have the right to request that Canada Goose revise incorrect Personal Information maintained by you; subject to certain exceptions allowed under applicable law.

Request to opt out of the sale of Personal Information and the sharing of Personal Information for cross-context behavioral advertising: You have the right, and may submit a request, to opt-out of cookies and tracking technologies used for cross-context behavioral advertising by clicking here. You may also submit a request to opt-out of the selling and sharing of your email address for cross-context behavioral advertising by emailing us at Privacyofficer@canadagoose.com. We sell and share the following categories of Personal Information for cross-context behavioral advertising: personal identifiers, demographic information, commercial information, device, internet and network activity information, online identifiers, general location information, and inferences drawn from the above categories. We “sold” or “shared” each category to or with data analytics providers, data brokers, advertising partners, and social networks. We do not “sell” or “share” Personal Information of known minors under 16 years of age.

Request to opt-out via preference signals, including the Global Privacy Control: You have the right to send us a request to opt-out of the selling and sharing of Personal Information through an opt-out preference signal. If you use an opt-out preference signal, we will apply the opt-out to the device or browser which sends the opt-out preference signal. You can use an opt-out preference signal by downloading a supported browser or extension. If known, we will also treat the opt-out preference signal as a valid request to opt-out of sale/sharing for the consumer. Some browsers allow you to send a Do Not Track signal, an older request to block tracking of users by third parties. We may not honor these older signals.

We only process Sensitive Personal Information for purposes permitted by law and do not collect, use, or disclose sensitive Personal Information for the purpose of inferring characteristics about consumers.

We will not discriminate against you because you elect to exercise any the above rights.

Submission of Requests. You or your authorized representative may exercise these rights by emailing us at Privacyofficer@canadagoose.com, or by calling our HR Department at: HR@canadagoose.com. In order to verify your request, we may require you (or your authorized representative) to provide additional information, such as your full name, your e-mail address, your mailing address, and your phone number.

In response to verified requests pursuant to the rights above, we will disclose and deliver the required information to you free of charge within 45 days of receiving a verifiable consumer request. We may extend this time period to provide once by an additional 45 days when reasonably necessary. We will provide notice of the extension within the first 45-day period. In response to valid requests received pursuant to the opt-out rights above, we will honor such requests within 15 days of receipt.
